This paper presents a novel approach to smart file management on Android devices through the development of File Ease, an intelligent mobile application designed to simplify file organization, storage optimization, and secure access management. The proposed framework leverages modern Android development technologies, automated file indexing, category-based sorting, and advanced search mechanisms to create a comprehensive, user-friendly solution for managing digital files efficiently. Key contributions include the implementation of automatic file classification, duplicate file detection, storage usage analysis, secure folder protection, and rapid file retrieval features that enhance productivity and device performance. The effectiveness of the system is validated through performance evaluations based on search speed, storage efficiency, usability, and overall user satisfaction, paving the way for smarter mobile storage solutions. The core motivation of this research stems from the increasing volume of digital data stored on smartphones and the growing need for organized, fast, and secure file access. Existing file management systems often lack intelligent automation, efficient search capabilities, and privacy-focused features. Therefore, this work addresses these limitations by proposing an integrated Android application that combines automation, security, and accessibility in a single platform. The resulting framework not only improves user experience but also establishes a strong foundation for future innovations in mobile file management systems powered by artificial intelligence and cloud integration.
KEYWORDS
This work presented FileEase, an intelligent Android file management application integrating smart file organization, storage optimization, and secure data management within a unified mobile platform. By combining automated file scanning, category-based sorting, duplicate file detection, and privacy protection features, the proposed system bridges the long-standing gap between conventional file browsing tools and modern intelligent storage management solutions. Experimental observations confirm faster file access, improved storage utilization, efficient duplicate removal, and strong user satisfaction through a simple and responsive interface. The FileEase system achieved accurate file categorization, rapid keyword-based search, secure folder access, and real-time storage analysis, surpassing many traditional file manager applications that offer only basic browsing functionality. The automated file management pipeline ensures seamless handling of file operations such as copy, move, rename, delete, share, compress, and secure storage, eliminating the need for multiple separate applications. Leveraging Android Studio, Java/Kotlin development, SQLite database support, and Android File APIs, the system is highly scalable, modular, and extensible to additional tasks including cloud synchronization, AI-powered recommendations, and cross-device file transfer. Several limitations remain: performance may vary depending on device hardware, storage scanning speed depends on file volume, and advanced security features require continuous updates to meet evolving privacy standards. Looking ahead, integration with cloud storage platforms, artificial intelligence, biometric authentication, and real-time backup systems may further enhance functionality without compromising user privacy. Expanding the application to support voice-based search, smart file suggestions, encrypted cloud vaults, and multi-platform compatibility would broaden its practical impact. In summary, FileEase successfully unifies intelligent file organization, storage cleaning, and secure access management, establishing a strong foundation for next-generation mobile file management systems capable of improving productivity, optimizing device performance, and delivering a seamless digital storage experience.
